Fax.Live gives you a fax number when you create an account so you can receive faxes as well as send them. You might want a specific area code if:

  • You want your fax number area code to match your regular phone’s area code.
  • Your fax number needs to match the area code where you do business, even if you’re not physically located there.

Steps to Request an Area Code for Your Fax.Live Account

Head to Fax.Live and create an account with us. Your fax number will be tied to this account, so having an account is required. 

Step one: Click Get Started. 

Step two: Select Create Account. Or, sign in with your Google account.

Step three: Select a payment plan for your Fax.Live account. 

Step four: Click Set up your fax number.

Step five: Click Pick a local number. 

The option pick a local number is selected.

Step six: Enter the area code you want your fax number to have.

Step seven: We will generate a fax number for you, if one is available in that area code. This number is held for 10 minutes. If you don’t like it, you can start over to request a new number. If a number isn’t available in your area code, try another one from the same location or nearby. 

Final step: Click Activate this number. You will then see this fax number listed in the Fax.Live Dashboard. 

The Fax.Live customer menu shows the new phone number.

Do I have to be in the same location as the area code? 

No, you do not need to be located in the same place as the area code you want for your fax number. The area code that you select for your fax number can be any valid and available area code in the U.S. 

How many digits are in a fax number?

Fax numbers have 10 digits in the USA, the same number as a normal phone number. 

How much does it cost to request a specific area code?

Requesting a specific area code through Fax.Live is included in an active subscription.
